The Basic Technical Jewellery Course is a one-on-one, intensive program designed to provide a solid foundation in jewellery-making techniques and the use of goldsmithing tools and equipment. Through guided exercises and hands-on projects, you will learn essential skills and create several pieces of jewellery along the way.
This course is suitable for complete beginners — no previous jewellery-making experience is required.
Level 1
Focus: Introduction to fundamental hand skills, tool handling, and basic metalworking techniques through practical exercises and a guided project.

- Sawing, drilling, filing, and polishing
- Texturing techniques
- Basic forming
- Soldering
- Finishing and oxidizing
Level 2
Focus: Exploration of hollow forming through two main projects — a box ring and a sphere — emphasizing soldering control and precision.
Key Skills:
- Hollow form construction
- Multiple soldering techniques and heat control
- Precision fitting and alignment
- Application of earlier skills (piercing, drilling, texturing)
This level emphasizes soldering precision and three-dimensional metal construction.
Level 3
Focus: Comprehensive study of wax modeling techniques, exploring different wax types and modeling methods.
Key Skills:
- Liquid, soft, and hard wax modeling, including Mitsuro Hikime and forming with a wax welder.
Students will experiment with different types of wax and modeling methods to develop their own original designs.
Level 4
Focus: Mechanical and decorative connections, chain making, and bezel stone setting.
Key Skills:
- Riveting
- Jump ring and chain making
- Construction for bezel setting
- Bezel setting techniques
- Final finishing
This level brings together mechanical skills and decorative stone-setting techniques to complete polished, finished pieces.

Class Size:
While the course is based on individual learning and each student works on their own projects at their own pace, there may be up to four students in the atelier at the same time.
